Warner Music settled and signed a licensing deal (Nov 2025, reported at $500m); v6 is the licensed model that deal produced, and Suno now shares revenue with partners. Universal and Sony's case is unresolved with no trial date — in May 2026 they moved to expand it from 560 to 61,026 recordings, which would push statutory damages past $9bn. The AFM (musicians' union) sued UMG and WMG in June 2026 over the settlements themselves, amended 24 Jul 2026. A third data-breach class action was filed on 17 Sep 2026. Commercial safety is therefore split: v6 output sits on licensed catalogue, but pre-v6 output and the unresolved UMG/Sony claim remain open risk.

The labels sued Suno claiming its v6 model — announced on 9 September as trained on licensed music — is 'fruit of the same poisoned tree' because earlier versions were trained on infringing content.
Following the 8 Sept Believe-Suno partnership, Believe confirmed a two-stage opt-in: distributed repertoire is not placed into Suno's models automatically, artists must consent first, and those who decline are excluded — CEO Denis Ladegaillerie: 'the artist must consent first, period.'
A new class action over Suno's November 2025 data breach was filed days after two earlier suits were consolidated, adding a data-protection exposure on top of the unresolved Universal and Sony copyright claims.
Suno appointed its first Chief Financial Officer, previously CFO at Hightouch, following a June 2026 raise of over $400m at a $5.4bn post-money valuation — a signal it is institutionalising ahead of settling the remaining label litigation.
